    Product Details

    Nikka | Taketsuru 21yr

In 2010, Whisky Magazine awarded this whisky the title of Blended Malt Whisky of the Year. It offers notes of pepper and salt, alongside hints of prunes, dried orange, walnut, and ginger. It's sporadically available in very limited quantities.

Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka, journeyed to Scotland in 1918 to master the art of whisky production. Trained in Organic Chemistry, he gained experience at several Scottish distilleries. He briefly lived in Campbeltown with his Scottish wife, working at Hazelburn distillery. Upon returning to Japan, he assisted Shinjiro Torii in founding Yamazaki. In 1934, Taketsuru established his first distillery, Yoichi, on Hokkaido.
